Our beautiful engagement session today was submitted by the east coast bride-to-be, Jennifer, and we are so excited to share this with you! Captured by ShanieLeigh Photography, we’re bringing you to a fun couple, gorgeous images, and the Manhattan skyline from Liberty State Park, NJ.
Who popped the question and how?
My fiancé, Mike, popped the question! We live together in Hoboken and often take post-dinner walks along the Hudson. On this particular evening we enjoyed a lovely dinner at Liberty House Restaurant on the water in Jersey City. Following the dinner we took a quiet walk by the water, with the city skyline glowing in the background. That’s where he got down on one knee! I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal. After making some phone calls we went back to the restaurant and celebrated with a glass of champagne.
What were your inspirations for the engagement shoot?
Knowing we lived in Hoboken, our photographer suggested we shoot in Liberty State Park. Coincidently, that was where our engagement took place! The shoot was done on a freezing cold day in January but everyone had a great time despite the temperature. Liberty State Park was the perfect setting. There were so many unique photo backdrops that provided both a modern look with the city skyline and an aged look with the old train station.
How do the pictures reflect the personality of you as a couple?
Mike and I were looking to keep things simple since neither of us enjoys being the center of attention! We wanted to reflect classic, romantic photos and shy away from any forced cheesiness…we tend to save the goofiness for our own home! Our photographer did a great job with capturing our affection in a classy manner.
